Road Closed due to flooding  The Manitoba flood of 2009 came and went, taking with it the prospects of a prosperous season    for the most productive agricultural region of the province.  Of course, the Manitoba Government did what they could to alleviate the flooding-sandbagging, assistance for displaced families, etc.  But one thing they tried that didn’t work out so well was to launch a press release on April 30th, declaring that overland flooding was “virtually done.”  As in, all the farmland is ready to rock out for another season (technically, I should say “ready to grow food.”  Farmland isn’t too good at rocking out due to the whole “not moveable” thing.)

That would have been great, except for one thing–the day that press release came out was the day I took these photos of what seemed like inland oceans near the village of Rosenort, MB.

Naturally, I sent them in to a major farming paper, thinking I was really on to something.  According to the fact that these pictures only appear here and on my flickr account, I’m not.  Apparently, there’s a reason why I didn’t go to J-school.

Paul Williamson of the Winnipeg Free Press’ “Willy’s Garage” wrote a great article on my book, “Class of 2009″ yesterday, just in time for the launch party today.  Check out the ego-expanding goodness HERE!

And when you’re done reading that, come on down to the Pony Corral restaurant Downtown tonight for the book launch party.  I massacred over 30 Hot Wheels packages just to have something unique to give away tonight.  Let the nasty screams from collectors begin!

If you don’t know where the Pony Corral is (or which one to go to), here’s a map:
